RC enjoyed several December days in Jamaica for the 30th Annual J/22 Jamin Regatta hosted by Montego Bay Yacht Club. International teams converged to race in sporty conditions and add more lore to the special history of this long-cherished event. We were honored to produce our first regatta kit for Jamin, merging heritage and island spirit to celebrate the regatta’s coral anniversary.
Racing against some of the best teams in the region, we gradually found our footing and dialed in our boat-handling to position us ahead of the fleet toward the end of the regatta. We look forward to bringing back our newfound local knowledge next go round.
The Jamaican way is alive and well. Treated to an insider’s way of life, we sampled the best of what the island is known for across the world and forged new connections wherever we found ourselves. And it’s true: you can turn water into rum punch and Red Stripe.
Special thanks to Commodore Spencer May and the MBYC team for organizing an event for the books and to all our hosts and friends of RC for their generous hospitality. Till next time.
